Likely causes

How to fix Bosch error 505

  1. Switch off, remove the battery, wait, refit and restart
  2. Dry the bike indoors if it has been very wet
  3. Test ride to see whether the code returns
  4. If it does, book a dealer to read the error memory with DiagnosticTool
Go to a dealer if: A dealer with DiagnosticTool is needed whenever 505 returns after a restart, to read the fault memory and decide on repair or exchange.
Warranty: Bosch drive units, batteries and displays carry a 2-year manufacturer warranty in most markets; a genuine internal fault within that period is normally replaced free through the dealer.
Typical cost: Drive unit exchange 500-1000 EUR/USD out of warranty; independent repair often 200-400 EUR/USD.
Still stuck? Take a photo of the display and show it to a local e-bike workshop. Bring the bike's system name (e.g. Bosch Performance Line CX) and the exact code; that saves diagnostic time and money.
