The TSDZ2 controller reads no or an implausible signal from the torque sensor in the bottom bracket. Assist is weak, erratic or absent. The most common code on a TSDZ2 after water gets in or after the motor was opened.

How to fix Tongsheng TSDZ2 error E02

  1. Switch off, take your feet off the pedals, switch on and wait a few seconds
  2. Check the motor is dry; if water got in, open, dry and seal it (silicone at the cable exits)
  3. Open the motor and check the torque sensor connector is seated
  4. On open-source firmware, run the torque sensor calibration
  5. Replace the torque sensor (a shop job unless you are comfortable opening the motor)
