Aventon error 04: Throttle not in home position

Aventon displays follow the Bafang UART error list; 04 means the throttle read above its idle voltage when the bike was switched on. No assist until the throttle reads rest.
Likely causes
- Throttle pressed while switching on
- Sticky thumb throttle
- Water in the throttle connector
- Damaged throttle sensor or wire
How to fix Aventon error 04
- Power cycle without touching the throttle
- Check the throttle returns freely; clean it
- Unplug the throttle: if the code clears, replace the throttle
- Dry and clean the connector
- If 04 stays with the throttle unplugged, contact Aventon support about the controller
