Aventon error 30: Communication error

The display and controller are not communicating. The Aventon display powers on but shows 30, freezes or has no data, and there is no assist. Usually the display or harness connector.

Likely causes

Display connector not fully seated or wet
Harness wire damaged at the head tube
Bent pin in the connector
Display or controller port failed
Firmware mismatch after a display update via the app

How to fix Aventon error 30

Switch off, unplug the display connector, check for water and bent pins, clean, dry, re-seat and lock
Wiggle the harness with the bike on to find intermittent breaks
Power cycle after re-seating
Contact Aventon support or a dealer for a display or harness replacement
