Bosch error 530: Battery error

The drive unit has received a fault message from the battery, or cannot read the battery correctly. The bike may refuse to start, cut out, or show a wrong charge level. Contacts and a deeply discharged battery are the usual culprits; a real cell fault is rarer.

Likely causes

Battery deeply discharged after long storage, so the BMS refuses to deliver power
Dirty, wet or corroded battery contacts
Battery too cold or too hot for operation
Battery management system has locked after a fault
Cell or BMS failure inside the battery

How to fix Bosch error 530

Switch off and remove the battery
Clean the contacts on the battery and in the mount with a dry cloth
Charge the battery fully on the original Bosch charger; watch the charger LED (it should go from charging to green)
Let the battery reach room temperature if it has been very cold or hot
Refit, lock and restart
If the code persists, or the charger refuses to charge it, a dealer must test the battery with DiagnosticTool
