The controller detected a fault on the motor phase wires: open circuit, short, or a motor that will not turn when driven. Symptoms are a motor that judders, grinds or stays dead.
Likely causes
- Motor connector not fully seated or corroded (green pins)
- Motor cable crushed at the axle or dropout
- Burnt motor windings
- Failed MOSFET in the controller
- Wrong phase/hall combination after a controller swap (motor runs badly, then trips)
