KT / Kunteng controllers with LCD3, LCD5, LCD8, LCD8H displays (generic hub-motor kits and budget e-bikes)Dealer neededDo not keep riding
One or more hall sensors in the motor give no valid signal, so the controller does not know the rotor position. The motor shakes, grunts, stalls or does nothing. On KT kits this is the single most common serious code.
Likely causes
- Water or corrosion in the motor connector
- Damaged motor cable near the axle
- Failed hall sensor inside the motor
- Hall wires swapped after a controller change
- Controller hall input damaged
How to fix KT / Kunteng LCD error 24
- Unplug the motor connector, dry, clean and re-seat it
- Check the cable for crush damage; wiggle it with the bike on and see if the motor twitches
- Measure each hall signal (0/5V toggling while rotating the wheel) if you have a multimeter
- Replace the hall board (motor must be opened) or the motor cable
- If a good motor still gives 24, replace the controller
Go to a dealer if: Go to a shop if the connector is clean; opening a hub motor to replace the hall board is a workshop job.
Warranty: Budget kits and bikes usually have 1 year of seller warranty; contact the seller before opening the controller or motor.
