The controller cannot read the motor's hall sensors. The hub motor judders, grunts or does nothing. On Rad bikes the usual cause is water or corrosion in the motor connector near the rear dropout.
Likely causes
- Water or corrosion in the motor connector
- Motor cable crushed at the dropout, often after a rear wheel removal
- Failed hall sensor inside the hub
- Controller hall input damaged
How to fix Rad Power Bikes error 08
- Unplug the motor connector near the dropout, inspect for corrosion, dry and clean, re-seat firmly
- Check the cable is not pinched where it exits the axle
- Power cycle and test at walk speed
- Contact Rad support with a video; they will typically send a motor cable or motor
- Shops can replace the hall board inside the hub if out of warranty
