The controller cannot read the hub motor's hall sensors. The motor shakes, grunts or does nothing. Water in the motor connector at the rear dropout is the usual cause on Aventon bikes.

- Water or corrosion in the motor connector
- Motor cable pinched at the dropout after a wheel removal
- Failed hall sensor inside the hub
- Controller hall input damaged

- Unplug the motor connector, inspect, dry, clean and re-seat
- Check the cable at the axle exit
- Power cycle and test at walk speed
- Contact Aventon support or a dealer; expect a motor cable or motor replacement
