Bosch error 414: Remote / control unit connection problem

The system cannot talk properly to the handlebar remote (the small control unit with the +/- buttons used with Nyon, Kiox and some Intuvia set-ups). Assistance may keep running in the last mode, but you usually cannot change modes, and the display may keep dropping the connection.

Likely causes

Plug between the remote and the display holder or cable harness has worked loose
Corrosion or water in the small connector after wet riding
Cable to the remote pinched, chafed or cut where it runs under the bar tape or through the stem
Remote damaged internally after a crash
Display holder contacts dirty, so the remote signal never reaches the display

How to fix Bosch error 414

Switch the system off
Follow the remote cable to its plug and push it firmly home; check the locking clip is engaged
Look for kinks or cuts in the cable, especially near the stem and where it enters the remote
Clean the display holder contacts and the display's rear contacts with a dry cloth
Switch on and test all remote buttons
If the code returns, a dealer needs to test the remote and cable with DiagnosticTool and replace the faulty part

Go to a dealer if: A dealer with DiagnosticTool is needed when the plug is seated and the cable looks intact but the code persists, as the remote or harness must be tested and replaced.
