Yamaha PW error E6: Battery communication error
Yamaha PW series (PW-X3, PW-X2, PW-X, PW-ST, PW-TE, PW-SE, PW-CE) and Giant/Liv SyncDriveFix at homeRide with caution
E6 is a communication problem between the battery and the drive unit. The battery shows charge but the system will not assist, or assist cuts out over bumps. Most often it is contacts or seating, not a dead battery. Also shown on Giant/Liv (SyncDrive) bikes, sometimes with a leading zero (E01) or as 'Er' followed by the number on older Yamaha displays.

- Battery not fully seated or locked
- Dirty, corroded or bent contacts on the battery mount
- Water in the battery connector
- Damaged wiring from battery mount to drive unit
- Battery management board fault
How to fix Yamaha PW error E6
- Switch off, remove the battery, clean and dry the contacts on both sides, refit and lock it
- Check the mount is tight in the frame
- Power-cycle and test
- Try a known-good battery if possible
- If E6 persists, the dealer needs to test the mount wiring and battery
