Shimano STEPS error E030: System configuration error

E030 tells you the combination of connected components is not one the drive unit firmware supports. It usually appears after swapping a display, adding a Di2 derailleur or an aftermarket accessory, or after a partial firmware update. Assist is limited or off.

  1. Think back: what was changed last? Remove any recently added component or accessory and power-cycle
  2. If you use the E-TUBE app, check whether it flags any component needing an update
  3. Reconnect only genuine Shimano components in the original configuration
  4. Book the dealer to update all firmware and set the configuration in E-TUBE PROJECT Professional
