Shimano STEPS error E030: System configuration error

E030 tells you the combination of connected components is not one the drive unit firmware supports. It usually appears after swapping a display, adding a Di2 derailleur or an aftermarket accessory, or after a partial firmware update. Assist is limited or off.
Likely causes
- A newly fitted display, switch or Di2 component the firmware does not recognise
- Firmware updated on some components but not others
- Third-party accessory wired into the E-TUBE bus
- Wrong drive unit firmware for the bike's specification
How to fix Shimano STEPS error E030
- Think back: what was changed last? Remove any recently added component or accessory and power-cycle
- If you use the E-TUBE app, check whether it flags any component needing an update
- Reconnect only genuine Shimano components in the original configuration
- Book the dealer to update all firmware and set the configuration in E-TUBE PROJECT Professional
