E031 is raised when a connected component identifies itself but is not compatible with the drive unit or its firmware version. It is the STEPS equivalent of 'wrong part fitted'. The display may work but assist is blocked.

- Display or switch unit from a different STEPS generation
- Di2 shifter or derailleur not supported by the drive unit firmware
- Component firmware too old or too new relative to the drive unit
- Counterfeit or damaged component with a corrupted ID

- Identify any part that was replaced or added recently and check its model number against your bike's specification
- Disconnect the suspect part and power-cycle
- Update firmware on all components if you have E-TUBE app access
- Ask the dealer to verify compatibility and update firmware in E-TUBE PROJECT Professional
